It has now been 20 years since the eight departments which together form the Midi-Pyrenees region in southwestern France have been leading a political campaign for the protection as well as the improvement and restoration of its bell heritage through reflection in the field
of belltower engineering.
This site, created and administered by the
IEAC Midi-Pyrenees
(the European Bell Institute)
falls within the framework of the European RECITE II programme. Conceived for European organizations, research institutes and specialists in the field, as well as for the general public interested in the protection and the development one of the most important vestiges of our cultural heritage, the church tower and steeple. This site provides both an access to and navigation possibilities within the world of the bell.
